My paintings incorporate my reactions to personal life experiences. As a young girl, growing up in the suburbs of New York City, I was exposed to art in many ways. My grandfather introduced me to color by showing me the effectiveness of using color as a guide to planting his beautiful gardens. I used to practice by designing his gardens on paper with colored pencils.
I love painting. I can create what I want on the canvas. There are no rules in art and I revel in that. A blank canvas provides me with the opportunity to explore color, shape, depth and motion. The process involves utilizing different materials and I love watching what happens on the surface of the canvas.
No matter where the inspiration comes from, or the medium I use, the importance of color remains dominant in my work. (thank you, Grandpa!) The end result is a view into my imagination.
